This isn’t my biological father.
This is my dad.
The man who took a chance on a three month old kid who needed a home.
This picture has reminded me of what love, family and hope means when I’ve struggled with.
Depression.
Anxiety.
Fear.
It was on my dashboard in high school,
It was on in my football locker in college,
It was on my desk at my 9-5,
It has been in my eye sight everyday for over two decades,
Reminding me that no matter how far I go or what I accomplish.
It all started with someone believing in me.
You see my dad didn’t have to give me a home.
He chose to do it.
So many people ask me where I get my drive from.
How do I keep going on the hard days?.
The truth is that’s how my dad raised me.
He would always say these three things:
1. Nobody owes you a damn thing.
2. You can do whatever you put your mind to.
3. Respect will get you further than anything else.
These 3 lessons have carried me to where I am today
It is the reason I have a beautiful family
It is the reason I was able to walk away from my 9-5
It is the reason I have been able to create the life I have.
If you struggling or don’t know your next move.
Remember those who believe in you
It will remind you to believe in yourself
