Teachers decry dehumanising, oppressive at KCSE working centre.

Teachers are pieced off by the disgusting oppression and dehumanisation of teachers at the KCSE marking centres.

A teacher, who didn’t want his identity revealed noted that the Kenya National examination council KNEC is committing serious atrocities against teachers at the various marking centres.

According to viral social media reports shared by Mutahi Mutandao, “the inhuman treatment of teachers at the marking centres needs to be exposed and called out.”

Reports gathered says KNEC is forcing teachers to do things that would make even the devil shed tears in pity.

But of all the harrowing experiences that examiners have to contend with at the centres including sleeping in bedbug infested beds, inadequate and poorly cooked food, mistreatment by some callous senior examiners none beats the indignity of forcing teachers to carry heavy script boxes daily at the marking centres.

Teachers decry text:

“For a long time KNEC has been subjecting teachers to the indignity of carrying heavy boxes containing students scripts from the marking rooms to the script storage rooms.

“The boxes containing an average of 1200 scripts are so heavy and teachers are forced to carry them on their shoulders, heads etc.

“This is despite that some of the marking rooms are located on storey buildings and this poses great danger to teachers incase of an accidental fall.

“Cases of teachers falling with the boxes are rampant at the centres . To make the matter worse KNEC doesn’t even have insurance cover for the examiners.

“The marking rooms and script storage rooms are usually far apart and it’s truly sickening to see teachers struggling with heavy boxes.

“The question that begs an immediate answer is doesn’t KNEC factor such logistics as how the scripts are to be carried around at the marking centres in its budgeting and planning ?

“Who eats the money set aside for the logistics such as hiring casuals to facilitate such logistics?

“There is an urgent need for the agencies concerned to scrutinize the KNEC budget and put the testing agency to task to explain how it has been using the money set aside for logistics.

“Some people at the council could be pocketing the Millions meant for such items as moving scripts around the marking centres.

“If KNEC truly doesn’t have such a consideration in its budget then why force the teachers to be carrying the scripts everyday from the marking rooms.

“Why can’t the marking rooms be secured so that teachers mark and process the scripts at the rooms after which they are collected by some designated persons hired as casuals and taken to the scripts storage rooms.

Who will come to the rescue of teachers…”
