One person was shot dead in Kisumu on Monday as the second day of anti-government protests demanded by the opposition began.
The deceased died in the chaotic scenes seen in Lake City as the riot police battled the rioters.
During the fight, the protesters started throwing stones at the police, who then fired tear gas to disperse them.
The body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Reference Hospital.
“Police just dumped the body here without recording anything, but it has a gunshot, hopefully, they will return,” said a mogue attendant.
The shooting led to violent fights with police between protesting youths along the Jomo Kenyatta Highway, the Aga Khan Hospital and Nyalanda, resulting in the policeman being stoned and taken to the hospital.
