New CAK CEO to replace Ezra Chiloba unveiled.
The Communication Authority of Kenya has been given a new CEO after Ezra Chiloba exit.
In a new, turn of events, the Communication Secretary at State House David Mugonyi has been reportedly appointed as new Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya to replace Ezra Chiloba.
David was appointed by the ICT Cabinet secretary CS Eliud Owalo.

“Reference is made to the above and a letter from the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service (Ref: SH/GM/22) dated 19th December, 2023 (enclosed) conveying approval for the appointment of Mr. David Mugonyi as the Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya.” A letter from ICT Cabinet secretary Eliud Owalo read.
Adding: “You may now prOceed and take appropriate action to formalize the appointment.”

The appointment came after the communication authority of Kenya conducted an interview and forwarded the name of the best candidate to the CS.
“We refer to the letter dated 19th December 2023 from the Chairperson, Board of Directors of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK), regarding the above subject matter (copy attached).” CAK stated.
The CAK, in a statement, noted that the Board of Directors conducted interviews for the position of Director General, and that Mr. David Mugonyi emerged as the best candidate for the position.
“We further note that the Board has sought concurrence for the appointment of Mr. David Mugonyi as the Authority’s Director General.”
“In view of the foregoing, and in furtherance of circulars nos. OP/CAB.9/1A dated 25th November 2022 and 3rd April 2023 respectively, concurrence is hereby given for the appointment of Mr. David Mugonyi as Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya.” Wrote the CAK in a letter to CS Owalo.
The CAK further directed CS Owalo to “Kindly proceed and take appropriate action to formalize the appointment.”
