The Transport Minister Hon Kipchumba Murkomen has finally broken his silence over autocracy remarks after an online aproar.

The CS has on Monday Morning, speaking at Citizen TV with Trevor Ombija claimed that Rwanda is not like Kenya.

Murkomen detailed that “Rwanda is an autocracy and there whatever the President says is the law.

“For every decision you make in this country you must go through a proposal then Parliament then public participation.”

Adding: “then after you go through all the processes you go through the court and that is our country. You cannot compare the political situation in Rwanda and the size of the country with our country and our democracy. That is why we have to employ technology to deal with corruption and cartelism.”

His remarks had caused online aproar with Ahmednasir Abdullahi being the recent person to complain.

“Dr @SingoeiAKorir, you need to URGENTLY organise workshops for government officials and educate them on basic tenets on the comity of nations.

“CS @kipmurkomen can’t attack a sovereign friendly state without provocation and disparage President @PaulKagame just like that. This is embarrassing.

“CSs must be taken through a crash course, teaching them the responsibilities that come with their new constitutional offices! Very soon, Kenya will be a pariah state in the hood.” Wrote Ahmednasir Abdullahi on X platform formerly twitter.

Murkomen Responds autocracy remark:

In his statement Murkomen told Ahmednasir that he has expressed his admiration for Rwanda’s style of leadership which has made it possible for them to build good infrastructure including a new airport and enforce discipline and order on their roads.

The CS noted that “It’s not just Rwanda, countries like UAE, Morocco, Saudi Arabia among others tha have a style of leadership that has delivered great success to their people because their leaders have the power to make firm DECISIONS.”

Murkomen detailed that Kenyans style of leadership has many positives ‘but it’s too bureaucratic and takes years to make a very simple decision which ends up being very costly for our people.”

The CS further asked Ahmednasir to instead of crying about Rwanda “please cry for your country.”

“Help us deal with for example court orders that award a contractor 10B for claims and interests for a contract worth 2B or a road that stalls for 10yrs because a competing bidder is still waiting for a decision of the court.

“Cry not for Rwanda, they are doing well. Cry for your country.”
