CS Julius Ogamba Clarifies University Entry Requirements for KCSE 2024 Candidates
NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 23 – The Ministry of Education has dismissed recent reports claiming that the minimum university entry grade for KCSE 2024 candidates will be raised from C+ to B-.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba addressed the rumors in an official statement, calling the claims “false and misleading.” He urged parents, students, and the public to ignore such misinformation and instead rely on verified communication from the Ministry.
“We advise Kenyans to rely on official information from the Ministry of Education and avoid being misled by unverified reports,” Ogamba emphasized.

The clarification followed an online article that claimed the government planned to adjust university entry requirements to B- in a bid to improve the quality of graduates in the job market. The article further alleged that CS Ogamba announced these changes during a recent press event.
However, the Ministry made it clear that no such proposal has been tabled or approved, assuring the public that the standard C+ grade remains unchanged for university entry in KCSE 2024.

The Ministry’s statement comes as the marking of the KCSE 2024 exams nears completion. CS Ogamba previously announced that KCSE 2024 results will be released in January 2025 rather than the usual December timeline.
