The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced a call for applications for the position of Principal Secretary in the public service. This opportunity, mandated under Article 155(3)(a) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, allows qualified candidates to serve as key advisors and implementers in government departments.

Key Qualifications:

To qualify, candidates must:

  1. Be Kenyan citizens with degrees from recognized universities.
  2. Have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, with five years in leadership or top management roles.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of government operations, strategic goals, and policies.
  4. Showcase leadership and management expertise in financial and strategic people management.
  5. Meet Chapter Six constitutional requirements on leadership and integrity.

Responsibilities of a Principal Secretary:

The role entails working under Cabinet Secretaries to:

  • Serve as the Accounting Officer for State Departments.
  • Implement government policies and strategic plans.
  • Promote efficiency in resource utilization and reporting.
