How EACC arrested a police officer for demanding Ksh. 10K bribe to release complaint’s motorbike

The Ethic and Ant-corruption Commission EACC arrested Police Officer George Waweru Kagia of Mutuati Police Station who demanded Kes.10,000 bribe to release the complainant’s motorbike that he had confiscated and detained.

This follows an investigation into a complaint laid by a bodaboda rider in Igembe North, Meru County.

According to a statement seen by K47 news team, the police officer is said to have stopped the rider and asked him to prove ownership of the motorbike but he did not have the documents with him.

“When he later presented ownership documents, the officer said they were not genuine and demanded Kes.10k bribe to release the detained motorbike.” A. Police station read in part.
