Ahmed Rashid, a police officer at the Pangani Police Department, denied killing two boys in Nairobi’s Eastleigh district five years ago.
Rashid appeared before Judge Diana Mochache on Monday 17 April and was charged with the murders of Jamal Mohammed and Mohammed Dahir Keri on 31 March 2017 at Eastleigh 1st Avenue 4th Street.
The prosecutor asked the court to remand him at the Indusi Area prison as he awaits bail but Rashid’s lawyer Danstan Omari desputed saying it would endanger his life.
Omari requested bail of 100,000 KSh in cash from the court, claiming that he was released on police bail and did not escape.
Judge Mochache said the victim did not file a complaint of interference or tampering with evidence.
He was, however, set free by the Court on on bail of 2 million.
