Multiparty Democracy Kenya CDM-Kenya has released a statement of following a confrontation between Kanini Kega and Jeremiah Kioni at PDF.
CMD says the People Dialogue Festival (PDF) is an annual multi-stakeholder platform which is designed as a safe space for respectful, meaningful engagement between citizens and various actors in the political and civic sphere.
“The PDF is an open and public walk-in event which all interested citizens and leaders in their diversity and various capacities are invited to attend.” party of the statement read.
The 5th Edition of the PDF, according to a statement shared by street news, commenced yesterday Wednesday 8th and will end on Saturday 11th March at the National Museum of Kenya.
“The organizers and hosts wish to express our deepest disappointment with the breach of order experienced this morning at the event when factions of a member political party brought internal party differences to the open and clashed publicly before guests and partners.”
This morning, both Hon. Kanini Kega and Hon. Kioni of Jubilee Party attended PDF.
The party note that it takes great exception with the conduct of Hon Kioni who walked into and disrupted an ongoing session in which Hon. Kanini was participating.
“It is our wish to maintain the PDF as a safe space that is accessible to all leaders and citizens, and not a place of violence and disrespect and organized thuggery.”
The CMD-Kenya Board says it seized of the happenings and there will be deliberations on the next cause of action on Jubilee Party.
“On behalf of the Board, member political parties, our partners, guests, panelists and the attending public, we express our deepest apologies for the sad events and
promise that all necessary action has been taken to ensure there is no repeat of the same, now and in future. We thank you for your understanding.” Steering Committees wrote.
