Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on David Raya after the Spanish goalkeeper secured another Premier League Golden Glove award, describing his performances as “exceptional” and admitting that his consistency has reached an incredibly high level.

Raya has become one of the most important players in Arsenal’s squad over the past two seasons, and Arteta believes the goalkeeper is finally receiving the recognition he deserves after a remarkable campaign between the posts.

Speaking about Raya’s performances, Arteta said: “First of all, he’s been exceptional. His level of consistency since he joined the club has been something that probably nobody expected. I think he has reached a level that is incredibly high.”

The Arsenal boss also explained that many supporters may now take Raya’s brilliance for granted because of how frequently he delivers in crucial moments.

“Sometimes I think we take some of the things he does as normal when they’re NOT — he has responded in crucial moments,” Arteta added.

Raya’s latest Golden Glove triumph further strengthens his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and European football. The Spaniard has consistently produced match-winning performances this season, helping Arsenal maintain one of the strongest defensive records in England.

Since arriving from Brentford, Raya has transformed Arsenal’s style of play with his calmness on the ball, outstanding distribution, and ability to command his area under pressure. While his signing initially sparked debate due to the competition with Aaron Ramsdale, Arteta’s decision to trust Raya has proven to be the correct one.

The Spanish international quickly established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper and has continued improving with every season. His shot-stopping ability, confidence in possession, and composure during high-pressure situations have made him one of the most complete goalkeepers in Europe.

This season, Raya has once again been a key figure in Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge and their impressive UEFA Champions League campaign. The Gunners have conceded fewer goals than almost every other top side in Europe, with Raya often stepping up during decisive moments.

Arteta also made it clear that the entire Arsenal squad deserves recognition for the team’s defensive achievements.

“Obviously, I think the team deserves a lot of credit for that as well, because the work everybody puts in that phase for the third consecutive season, to achieve it, is incredible,” the Arsenal manager explained.

Arsenal’s defensive organization has become one of the club’s biggest strengths under Arteta. Players throughout the squad contribute heavily to pressing, structure, and defensive transitions, allowing Raya to thrive behind a disciplined back line.

The goalkeeper’s performances in Europe have been equally impressive. Raya has delivered several crucial saves during Arsenal’s run in the Champions League, helping the club compete against some of the strongest attacking teams in world football.

Many football fans and pundits now believe Raya belongs in conversations about the best goalkeepers on the planet. His consistency, leadership, and reliability have elevated Arsenal to another level during one of the club’s most competitive eras under Arteta.

What makes Raya’s rise even more remarkable is how quickly opinions surrounding him have changed. When Arsenal first signed him, many questioned whether replacing Ramsdale was necessary. However, Raya has silenced critics with elite performances week after week.

Arteta’s comments show just how highly the Arsenal manager rates his goalkeeper. With Arsenal continuing to compete for major trophies, Raya’s influence could become even more important during the final stages of the season.

For Arsenal supporters, the Spaniard has now become far more than just a goalkeeper — he has developed into one of the foundations of Arteta’s project and a player capable of delivering in the biggest moments.
