A police officer and a Civilian arrested in meru over wildlife trophies.

An officer from the Tutwa Police Department, Harrison Gitonga Kanake, and a civilian identified as Hassan Galgalo were arrested in Meru for possession of wildlife trophies.

A vehicle they were using was stopped by a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) security team on Saturday morning.

After an exhaustive search, 23 ivory tusks were found hidden in bags, all weighing 79.6 kg and having a market value of Kshs 12,000,000.

A pair of handcuffs and police batons were also found during the operation.

The two suspects have been arrested pending charges of possession of trophies of endangered wildlife, which is contrary to Section 92(4) of the Wildlife Management Act 2013. wild.
