Mandago meet Uasin Gishu parents “agree on way forward” over scholarship saga.

The Uasin Gishu County Senator Jackson Mandago has finally met parents of Uasin Gishu over Finland scholarships saga.

This is according to his statement which he says he met parents leadership over refunds and agreed on the way forward.

This, he says, is in line with a press statement issued a day before.

“I have met with the leadership of parents demanding refunds and agreed on the way forward as per their press statement issued last evening.” Said Mandago in a statement seen by the K47 digital news team.

Mandago’s remarks come hours after reports emerged that DCI officers are looking after him over the same.

He says he will avail himself to DCI officers once summoned as “a law abiding citizen.”

“There are rumours all over Eldoret Town that DCI Officers have been looking for me the whole night. As a law abiding citizen, I am available once summoned.” He said.

According to media reports, the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered the arrest of Mandago and two others over Finland and Canada Overseas Education Programme.

The senator together with three other top county officials, are wanted by police for prosecution over the county’s scholarship fiasco.

The other officials are Joseph Kipkemoi Maritim, Meshak Rono and Joshua Kipkemoi Lelei.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution gave consent for the prosecution of the officials in the fiasco.

They are supposed to face charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, stealing and abuse of office.

They are also accused of forgery.

They are accused of conspiring to steal Sh1 billion from an account domiciled at the Kenya Commercial Bank in Eldoret registered under the Uasin Gishu Education Trust Fund meant for overseas university fees for students under Uasin Gishu County Overseas Education Programme.

The detectives handling the matter said they had tried to reach the wanted officials in vain.

They claimed they were attending the Devolution Conference in Eldoret town.

This prompted police to move to Nakuru law courts to seek warrants to arrest the suspects.
