Mbiti Mwondi, a medical practitioner says brothels and prostitutions are are no longer the main cause of HIV transmission.
He note tha there has been so many incidences of one of the couples being positive without the knowledge of the other in recent days.
Men, according to him, tend to be the victims more, as they innocently walk their wives to maternity for delivery not knowing their wives are infected.
“I have seen women hide their ARVs and the new born prophylactic medications in funny places such as menstrual pads, make up bottles etc just to conceal the truth from the unsuspecting husbands.” He said in a statement.
He disclosed that for doctors it’s a tricky situation because confidentiality must prevail so “you’re stuck on whether you should inform the partner or not but you can’t because they’re not the patient and your license would be at risk.”
He advised that married couples should normalize routine HIV testing in their bedrooms or just “condomise, Nikubaya!”
