“Don’t profile religious leaders” – Cherargei on Shakahola massacre.

The Nandi county senator Hon. Samson Cherargei has said charges against Pastors Mackenzie and Ezekiel is weighty and that it’s threshold is too high.
The outspoken Senator has asked Director of Public Prosecution and police to do proper investigation as cases aren’t sustained through emotions.

“The charges against Pastors Mackenzie, Ezekiel & others of Genocide, Terrorism or murders shall NOT water because the threshold is too high unless manslaughter or accessories to murders . The ODPP & Police need to do thorough investigations becoz cases aren’t sustained through emotions!.” Said Cherargei.

Cherargei pointed out that, “the religious organisations should not be profiled based on the few rogue clerics but the govt should weed out the rogue clerics in their midst.”

This comes as police reports shows that people who died at Pastor Ezekiel’s church were buried in Shakahola.

Source says Pastor Ezekiel and Mackenzie of Shakahola need to charged under section 17, 21 & 22 of the birth and deaths registration act with offences of failure to give notice of death and conducting burial without permit.

The Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has detailed that the Government has upscaled the search and rescue efforts for persons suspected to be holed up in the thickets in Shakahola, Kilifi County.

“Returning to Shakahola this afternoon to oversee the ongoing operation. The multi-agency security team is doing its best to save as many lives as possible. A public information, tracing, and support centre has been established to offer assistance and receive enquiries from members of the public.”
