Residents of Kiamuthambi village in Kirinyaga Central are reeling in shock after a daring midnight raid left a prominent businesswoman counting heavy losses. A gang of more than 20 armed suspects stormed the home of Rose Muriuki and systematically stripped her luxury Lexus LX600, valued at an estimated Ksh35 million.
According to family members, the attackers arrived shortly after midnight in two vehicles. The gang reportedly overpowered the watchman, Anthony Namanda, tied him up, and forcefully gained entry into the well-fenced compound. The suspects are said to have sprayed an unknown substance into one of the bedrooms, rendering Muriuki and her friend unconscious.
What has stunned residents most is the precision and organization of the operation. Between midnight and 4 a.m., the criminals allegedly dismantled the high-end SUV, removing valuable spare parts before fleeing the scene undetected. By the time the victims regained consciousness — hours later in hospital — the gang had vanished without a trace.
Neighbours described the incident as highly unusual for the typically quiet Kirinyaga Central area. Many believe the attackers specifically targeted the luxury vehicle and may have had prior knowledge of its location within the compound. Security experts say the sophistication of the operation suggests the involvement of an organized criminal network specializing in high-value car parts.
Police have since launched investigations into the brazen attack. Detectives are pursuing leads to identify the suspects and determine how they managed to execute the crime without immediate detection.
The incident has reignited concerns about rising cases of organized theft targeting luxury vehicles across the region. Residents are now calling for heightened security patrols and community vigilance to prevent similar attacks.
As investigations continue, the shocking raid serves as a stark reminder that even well-secured homes are not immune to determined criminal gangs.
