Tragic FH Lorry Collision at Equator in Mumberes Claims One Life
A fatal road accident involving two FH lorries occurred on Thursday at the Equator area in Mumberes, along the busy Eldoret-Nakuru highway, claiming the life of one driver.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision happened in the early hours of the day when one of the lorries lost control and rammed into the other. The impact left both vehicles badly mangled, with emergency responders forced to use cutting equipment to retrieve the trapped victims.
One of the drivers succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is yet to be officially released pending notification of next of kin.
The other driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. His condition remains critical.
Traffic along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway was temporarily disrupted as authorities cleared the wreckage and launched investigations into the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that speeding or mechanical failure could have contributed to the crash, but further investigations are underway.
Residents and motorists have expressed concerns over the increasing number of accidents in the area, calling on traffic police to intensify patrols and enforce safety measures, especially for long-distance truck drivers.
