In a major blow to drug trafficking networks, Mombasa’s Anti-Narcotics Unit and local police have executed successful operations in Jomvu and Kiembeni, seizing a large quantity of cannabis and apprehending a suspect.
The dual operations highlight the ongoing efforts to dismantle illicit drug networks in the region.
The first operation unfolded along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi Road, where detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit intercepted a Toyota Axio, registration number KCK 544J, suspected of transporting drugs.
According to Director Of Criminal Investigation DCI X report on X on 8th January 2025, the vehicle, driven by Dominik Oseko Ngisa, was subjected to a meticulous search, leading to the discovery of multiple rolls of cannabis expertly concealed in the boot.
Simultaneously, officers from Kiembeni Police Station raided a house near Kiembeni Primary School, acting on a tip-off. Inside, they uncovered six sacks filled with bhang. However, the suspected trafficker fled moments before the officers arrived, narrowly escaping arrest.
The confiscated drugs and the arrested driver were promptly taken to Jomvu Police Station for processing. Authorities confirmed that the suspect would face arraignment as detectives intensify efforts to locate the fugitive linked to the Kiembeni raid.
