Revealed: 80% National Gov’t budget goes to waste.

Civil Society TISA has raised questions over how the national government spends money.

Speaking during Africa Forum & Network on Debt and Development Conference AfCoDDIII attended by TISA Member, Diana Gichengo, a Pan-Africanist advocate says the National Gov’t controls 80 percent of the National budget without accountability.

“The National government in Kenya controls upwards of 80% of the budget, yet accountability measures are lacking.

“We need to turn our attention to the money left at the top, even as we monitor the implementation of Devolution in Kenya.” Said Diana.

Diana detailed that “once we are convicted that we are powerful enough, the capital owners will not outpower us. But we must be convicted enough, to challenge the world disorder.”

Diana Gichengo detailed that in Kenya, we have decided to focus on three things:

i) Educate the people so that they can exercise their power directly towards #AfricaRuleMaker by changing the fiscal trajectory in Kenya.

ii) Loudly remind the representatives of the people that they hold the public purse of taxation, debt and expenditure, and so far, their selection of where to place coins, notes and planning notes is misplaced and is causing suffering.

iii) Commune in the richness of our Africanness, our intellectual, financial, people & natural resources of Mama Afrika. It’s the needed solidarity in moving from policies characterised as a national disorder where G20 nations decide for the majority.
