KPLC statement on power outage across the country.

The Kenya Power Limited Company KPLC has issued a statement on the power outage that affected most parts of the country on Friday 25th August 2025.

In a statement, the KPLC apologized to customers for any inconvenience caused due to blackout.

The KPLC says the power failure was caused by breakdown of one of the generator power plant at the station.

However, the power company has acknowledged to have restored power in Mt Kenya and Jomo Kenyatta International airport.

“we experienced a system disturbance leading to loss of bulk power supply to various parts of the country.

“We are working in collaboration with teams from
all involved sector partners to facilitate speedy restoration of power supply in the shortest time possible.

“We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused.

“An update on the restoration progress will be provided as soon as possible.” Said KPLC in a statement.

Adding: “…We are glad to report that we have successfully restored the power supply to Mt Kenya Region.

“We are working to restore normalcy in all other areas as soon as possible.

“Initial reports indicate that the power outage was caused by a fault on one of the generation plants.

“We thank our customers for their patience as we continue with the restoration exercise.”

The KPLC restores power at KIA.

“We have suCcessfully restored power supply to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and other critical areas within the Nairobi metropolitan.” Said KPLC in a nightly tweet.
