The Ugandan director of communications and affairs Chris Obore has released a statement following the hacking of Ugandan Parliament official Twitter account.
In a press release signed by Obore, he remarked “Dear Ugandans, This is to inform the general public of the unfortunate hacking incident that occurred on the Parliament Twitter account.”
“Statement on Parliament official twitter account On behalf of Parliament and the Department of Communication and Public Affairs, I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this incident.”
“The Parliament’s Twitter account was hacked and despite our best efforts, we were not able to recover it.”
“However, we were able to recover the user name and we have created a new account to ensure that we continue providing updates and engage with you as we have always done.”
“We assure the public that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.”
“We urge you to follow our new account, @Parliament_Ug for plenary updates and official communication from Parliament.
“We also confirm that this newly reopened account has now been grey verified by Twitter as a government organization. We appreciate your continued support.”
