Tourist CS Malonza canceles the appointments of Pauline Njoroge, Kalonzo’s son & 4 other tourism regulators, according to media reports.

In the March 10 gazette, CS also fired former KTN news chief Najma Ismail. Ms. Ismail left Media Station on March 8.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 (1) (g) of the Tourism Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage revokes the appointment of five members,” Malonza said in a statement.

It has also been gathered that among those fired, Kevin Muasya, Alais Lenana Momoi, and Isaac Muchiri Njangu.

Pauline’s appointment to the board of directors was reportedly rescinded in 2021 by former tourism minister Najib Balala after it was revealed that she had been critical of Nairobi’s national parks in previous social media posts.

“I am revoking Pauline Njoroge’s appointment as a board member of Tourism Regulatory Authority because we have just seen what she had tweeted in the past that Nairobi National Park was useless. We do not want to be associated with such people and such thinking,” Balala said.

Ms. Ismail controversially replaced Pauline after a former CS said she was fit to serve on the board of directors. Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA), an institution established under section 4 of the Tourism Act. 28 of 2011, is responsible for the supervision of the tourism industry.

Pauline Njoroge has been criticizing Ruto’s Gov’t on her social media posts.
