Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a murder suspect in a swift and intelligence-led operation in Eastleigh, recovering a firearm and property believed to be linked to criminal activity in the area.
According to police reports, the operation was conducted by a joint team of detectives from Dandora and Shaurimoyo, who have been pursuing the suspect following ongoing investigations into a murder case. The suspect, identified as Peter Kimani, also known by the alias “Kim,” was cornered and arrested along Gallole Street, a busy stretch within Eastleigh.
During the arrest, detectives recovered a Retay Falcon pistol from Kimani’s possession. The firearm was found loaded with a live 9mm hollow-point round, raising serious concerns about its intended use. Officers also recovered a spent cartridge of the same calibre, a discovery that investigators believe could be crucial in linking the suspect to previous criminal incidents.
In addition to the firearm and ammunition, detectives impounded a red Boxer motorcycle bearing registration number KMGT 530S. Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcycle is suspected to have been stolen, and it is now being held as an exhibit as forensic and ownership verification processes continue.
Security officials say the arrest marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to curb violent crime within Eastleigh and surrounding estates. The area, known for its high population density and commercial activity, has in recent months experienced increased police operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and removing illegal firearms from circulation.
Investigators believe the recovered pistol may have been used in the murder under investigation, although ballistic analysis will be conducted to establish a definitive link. The spent cartridge recovered from the suspect is expected to play a key role in forensic examinations.
Peter Kimani is currently being held in police custody as detectives finalize investigations and complete processing ahead of his arraignment in court. Authorities indicate that he is likely to face multiple charges, including murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and possession of suspected stolen property.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has reiterated its commitment to tackling violent crime, particularly in urban hotspots. Officers emphasized that intelligence-driven operations will continue across Nairobi and other parts of the country to ensure public safety.
Residents of Eastleigh have welcomed the arrest, expressing relief that a potentially dangerous suspect has been taken off the streets. Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing information that could help prevent crime.
As investigations continue, the DCI has assured Kenyans that no effort will be spared in bringing perpetrators of serious crimes to justice and restoring confidence in public security.
