Maandamano: Situation in different parts of the country.

The Azimio supporters and Kenyans in different parts of the country woke up and heed the opposition Chief call to protest the high cost of living.

The demonstration took different forms a cross the country.

In Eldoret Town, residents are out in numbers saying the cost of living has gone up. They say it’s affecting everyone. Eldoret is among president Ruto’s strong holds.

In Nyeri County, the situation seems to worsen as people walk on the street demanding the cost of living to be lowered.

Nyeri is Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s backyard. According to eyewitnesses, it is a no-go zone.

Thousands of residents are in the streets in Nyeri town complaining about the high cost of living.

The demonstrators have blocked roads with burning car tyres and stones.

Meanwhile, in Kisumu, where people expected the Maandamano to start from and thousands of police officers were taken there, it is very peaceful. In Kisumu, youths are enjoying a mini-football match in the empty streets adjacent to the main bus park as a dozen police officers look on.

Mama mbogas are feeling the sting of betrayal. They’re asking themselves, “How did we fall for that one?”

Other towns that are massively demonstrating include Kitale, Kagamega, Nakuru and Kisii.
