Breaking: Police round up “contraband sugar” in Wajir.
Police have reportedly nabbed over one thousand Kg of sugar being transported in Wajir.
The contraband sugar was nabbed on 1st January 2024 by Kenya Police in conjunction with DCI in Habaswein sub-county.
The lorry was reportedly stopped by a police barrier and 560 bags of Brazilian sugar of 50kg each seized.
Also nabbed were 250 bags of “Simba” rice each weighing 25 kgs, all suspected to be contraband.
The recovery has caused aproar amongst Netizen.
Comments like “That Brazil sugar is in every corner of the country,do you mean all of it is contraband? Or you want to do monkey business like that of “sugar with mercury” dominated the comments section.
One Kenyans, a social media enthusiast commented: “Why delay the goods while just trying to convince people that you are working and then release them to the unsuspecting Kenyans after a bribe.”
