Arsenal have made a huge statement ahead of the 2026/27 season after thrashing Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

There were also positive signs surrounding Arsenal’s summer recruitment. However, it is important not to read too much into one match. The Community Shield traditionally serves as a curtain-raiser rather than a reliable predictor of the season ahead. Both clubs still have a long campaign ahead, with injuries, fixture congestion, European football and squad rotation likely to play major roles.
For Arsenal, though, the 3-0 victory could hardly have provided a better opening statement.
Calafiori’s early strike, Havertz’s header, Ødegaard’s composed finish and Tzolis’ impressive debut combined to give Arsenal a memorable victory. With the Premier League campaign now approaching, Arteta’s team have immediately put their rivals on notice.
