Nairobi, Kenya – May 18, 2025 —
If you missed out on your dream course in the first round of applications, here’s your second chance! The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially reopened its online portal for the Revision of Choices for the 2025/2026 university and TVET placement cycle.
This new window gives applicants a golden opportunity to revise and reselect their preferred degree, diploma, certificate, and artisan courses for placement into universities and colleges across Kenya.
Who Can Apply?
KUCCPS is calling on two main categories of individuals to participate in this revision exercise:
- Applicants who participated in the first application phase but were not placed in any programme. These students are now invited to log into the portal and choose from a list of available courses that still have slots.
- KCSE leavers who have never applied for placement at all, despite having attained a qualifying mean grade in their respective national examinations.
According to KUCCPS, both categories now have the chance to be considered for government-sponsored programmes in universities, national polytechnics, technical training institutes, and other accredited colleges in Kenya.
When and How to Apply
The application portal will remain open from May 18 to May 27, 2025.
To apply or revise your choices:
- Visit the official KUCCPS website: www.kuccps.ac.ke
- Click on the “Student’s Portal” tab.
- Log in using your KCSE index number and year of examination.
- Use your birth certificate number or KCPE index number as your password.
- Review the available courses and institutions, then revise or submit your new choices.
KUCCPS strongly advises students to carefully review the minimum subject requirements and cutoff points for each course before submitting their final selections.
What’s New This Year?
The 2025/2026 placement cycle has seen an increase in available programmes, especially in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Many institutions are also offering new diploma and certificate courses tailored to the evolving job market.
Additionally, KUCCPS has improved the user interface of the student portal to make the revision process smoother and more intuitive for applicants.
Students can also access online support and updated career guidance materials via the KUCCPS portal to make more informed choices.
Why This Revision Is Crucial
Every year, thousands of students miss out on courses due to a mismatch between their qualifications and course requirements, or due to oversubscription. This revision phase gives students a second chance to secure placement in available programmes that match their grades and career interests.
Education experts encourage students not to overlook TVET courses, noting that technical skills are increasingly in demand in the job market. With government funding and HELB loans available for both university and college students, all pathways can lead to successful careers.
Don’t Wait Until the Last Minute
With the application window closing on May 27, 2025, KUCCPS is urging eligible candidates to take action now to avoid last-minute rushes that often overwhelm the system.
Remember, no further extension has been announced, and missing this window could mean waiting until the next placement cycle in 2026.
