November 6, 2025 – In a dramatic political twist that has sent shockwaves through Kenya’s opposition ranks, the Jubilee Party has formally written to the Registrar of Political Parties seeking the removal of the Wiper Democratic Movement (Wiper Patriotic Front) from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition. The explosive move, contained in a letter dated November 5, 2025, and signed by Hon. Jeremiah Kioni, Jubilee’s Secretary-General, could mark the beginning of a major realignment within Kenya’s opposition landscape.
According to the letter, Jubilee accuses Wiper, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, of openly associating and aligning with political formations whose policies and conduct contradict the vision and objectives of the Azimio coalition. The party cites Section 11 of the Political Parties Act (2011) and the Azimio Coalition Agreement signed in 2022, saying Wiper’s conduct breaches the coalition’s founding principles.
“It has come to our attention, and is now a matter of public record, that Wiper Patriotic Front has openly associated, collaborated, and entered into alignment discussions with political formations whose policy positions and public conduct are inconsistent with Azimio’s collective stand,” reads the letter in part.
The letter further claims that Wiper’s continued association with rival political entities, including those linked to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has undermined coalition stability and created “confusion among supporters nationwide.”
The Jubilee Party, once led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, insists it remains committed to “ideological coherence, organizational discipline, and strategic unity” within the Azimio framework. The party has therefore asked the Registrar of Political Parties to initiate the formal deregistration of Wiper from the Azimio coalition registry and to update all coalition instruments accordingly.
This move is widely seen as retaliation against Kalonzo Musyoka’s recent public alignment with Deputy President Gachagua, an emerging political partnership viewed by analysts as part of the “2032 political axis.” The alliance is believed to threaten the unity of the Azimio coalition, particularly as it gears up for the next general election cycle.
Political observers say this could signal the end of Kalonzo’s long-standing relationship with Azimio and possibly his isolation from the opposition’s mainstream leadership. Social media users have already coined trending hashtags such as #BrokenWipers, #UhuruSeason3, and #KalonzoWhyWhy, reflecting the public intrigue surrounding the latest twist in Kenyan politics.
As the Registrar of Political Parties reviews Jubilee’s request, one thing is clear — the Azimio coalition is entering its most turbulent season yet, and the battle for 2027 has officially begun.
