U.S. President Donald Trump has ignited global controversy after announcing a drastic reduction in refugee admissions, giving special preference to white South Africans. The move has been described by analysts as one of the strictest immigration policies in U.S. history, reigniting fierce debate over the administration’s stance on global migration.

According to sources within the administration, the policy aims to “prioritize refugees facing racial persecution,” but critics have blasted it as a thinly veiled act of discrimination. Human rights groups and refugee organizations across the world have condemned the decision, calling it unconstitutional and racially biased.

The policy comes amid rising tensions between the U.S. and South Africa, following Trump’s repeated claims that white farmers in South Africa are victims of widespread violence. South Africa’s government has dismissed those claims as misleading, insisting that all citizens face crime regardless of race.

Refugee advocates have warned that the new directive could drastically cut admissions from war-torn regions such as the Middle East and Africa. “This policy undermines the principles of equality and compassion that the U.S. has long stood for,” said one humanitarian agency.
