A fire broke out at Onjiko High School in Kisumu County on Sunday afternoon, engulfing one of the school’s dormitories under unclear circumstances. The incident, which occurred as the nation marked the historic #SabaSaba day, has left students, parents, and staff members in shock.

Eyewitnesses say thick smoke and flames were seen billowing from the dormitory around evening, prompting a frantic evacuation of students from nearby buildings. Firefighters from the Kisumu County Fire Department were swiftly dispatched to the scene, where they battled to contain the raging blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent structures.
