Kasarani detectives have cracked down on a shocking online scam where two men posed as attractive female masseuses to rob unsuspecting clients. The suspects, identified as Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, lured victims through online ads promising “professional massage services.” Instead of a relaxing experience, clients were met with violence, theft, and a nightmare they won’t soon forget.
How the Scam Worked
The duo advertised their “services” on social media and online forums, using fake profiles with pictures of stunning women. Unsuspecting clients, expecting a soothing massage, would book sessions and arrive at the suspects’ residence along Lumumba Drive, Kasarani. However, once inside, the situation took a terrifying turn.
Rather than receiving a massage, victims were ambushed at knifepoint. The suspects, dropping their fake personas, forced clients to transfer money via mobile payment and stole their valuables—phones, wallets, and jewelry—before kicking them out.
A Victim’s Harrowing Experience
One victim, hoping for a luxurious spa-like experience, reported the incident to Kasarani Police Station after falling prey to the scam. He had transferred Sh280,000 under duress and was robbed of his belongings.
“I thought I was meeting professional masseuses,” the victim recounted. “But within minutes, they pulled out knives and demanded everything I had. It was terrifying.”
The Arrest
Acting on forensic evidence, detectives tracked down the suspects to a popular hangout spot near Kamiti Prison, where they were allegedly enjoying their ill-gotten gains. The two were arrested and are currently in custody awaiting arraignment in court.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution when engaging with online service providers, especially those involving personal meetings.
“Always verify the legitimacy of any service before making payments or visiting unknown locations,” warned a Kasarani police spokesperson. “Scammers are becoming more sophisticated, and vigilance is key.”
