Nyamira County Erupts in Outrage as Woman Brutalized During Ex-Husband’s Burial—More Suspects Wanted!

In a shocking incident that has left Nyabisimba residents reeling, three men have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman at a graveyard during her ex-husband’s funeral. The suspects—identified as Robert Pokea Sarudi (43), Bismark Ondiek Sarudi (40), and Lameck Ogindo Osoro (27)—reportedly ambushed the victim, forcing her into violent traditional rituals before brutally attacking her when she resisted.

A Funeral Turned Nightmare

The horrifying ordeal unfolded on March 21, 2025, when the woman, who had been separated from her late ex-husband for years, was asked by her mother-in-law to attend his burial following his death in a tragic road accident. Despite their estrangement, she agreed to bring their children to pay their last respects.

However, what was meant to be a solemn farewell quickly turned into a scene of terror. According to reports, the woman’s in-laws demanded she participate in a burial custom—throwing soil into the grave—as a symbolic gesture. When she refused, the family allegedly turned on her, accusing her of being responsible for her ex-husband’s death.
