Nairobi, Kenya, December 20, 2024 – Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has fiercely denied claims published by The Nairobian alleging a relationship with former Ghanaian President John Kufuor. In a strongly worded statement released Friday, Orwoba criticized the media outlet for violating her privacy and propagating unsubstantiated rumors.

Orwoba, known for her advocacy on gender equality and menstrual hygiene, expressed disappointment over the article, labeling it as “salacious gossip.” She demanded an immediate public apology and the withdrawal of the claims, emphasizing the need for ethical journalism.

“For the better part of my career, I have faced various forms of violence, both verbal and physical, and I have always stood up against patriarchal systems,” Orwoba stated. “However, this unwarranted invasion of my private life, particularly regarding a supposed affair with H.E. John Kufuor, is deeply disappointing.”

The senator further condemned the newspaper for what she termed as a shameless invasion of private spaces, particularly targeting women. She highlighted the irresponsibility of publishing baseless allegations without granting the individuals involved their right of reply.
