The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding a fraudulent social media account impersonating its Acting Chief Executive Officer, Evaleen Mitei. The Commission clarified that the page circulating online, claiming to belong to “Mrs Evaleen Mitei,” is fake and intended to mislead users.

According to TSC, the impersonation account falsely presents itself as an official communication channel, complete with misleading profile details and follower engagement. This has raised concerns about potential misinformation, scams, and unauthorized communication targeting teachers, stakeholders, and members of the public.

TSC emphasized that it does not operate personal social media pages for its CEO and urged users to remain vigilant when interacting with online profiles claiming affiliation with the Commission. The agency reiterated that all official updates, announcements, and communication are strictly disseminated through its verified platforms.

For clarity, the Commission confirmed that its legitimate presence on social media is limited to:

  • Facebook: TSC Kenya (verified page)
  • X (formerly Twitter): @TSC_KE (blue verification badge)

The rise of impersonation accounts has become a growing challenge, particularly in the public sector where trust and accurate information are critical. Fraudulent pages often aim to exploit unsuspecting individuals through fake announcements, job offers, or financial requests.

TSC is calling on the public to report such fake accounts immediately and avoid sharing personal information or engaging with unverified sources. Teachers and stakeholders are especially advised to cross-check any information with official TSC channels before taking action.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of digital vigilance in an era where misinformation spreads quickly. The Commission reassures the public of its commitment to transparency and secure communication, urging everyone to rely only on trusted and verified platforms.
