Machogu speaks on termination of Exam printing contract claims by Odinga.

The Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has come out to clarify the claims that contracts awarded to exam printing board abroad was terminated.

In his remarks, speaks on exam termination, the CS opined that “No one’s contract was terminated” as claimed be the Opposition chief.

He noted that “the contract for printing exam materials is awarded annually.”

According to Machogu, ” firms that have been applying for the contract in the past also applied in the latest procurement, and one of them was awarded the contract.”

“SMS results are not official results. The SMS platform is only meant to provide an ease of access to the results. It does not replace the requirement to obtain the official results slip from the schools” -Education CS ,Ezekiel Machogu.

Machogu disclosed that they are working with ICT ministry to find a way of relaying examination results to candidates free of charge and on a real-time basis in the future, as an alternative or in addition to the charged SMS.

National committee on Education hon Julius Melly warned Odinga on politicizing Education.

“I want to caution my colleagues against politicizing our exams, these are issues that affect our children.” Said Melly.

Adding: ” I’ve seen many politicians calling press conferences on issues that are not verified and don’t add up.”

CEO Knec detailed that five schools had candidates getting similar scores in multiple-choice question papers.

“It is possible but not conclusive evidence that the candidates may have cheated. We cannot punish candidates based on circumstantial evidence unless we get a report on malpractice.” -CEO Knec.
